Well it’s my turn to write again as my wife is enjoying a Chayanne concert right now π But she will share some impressions about that tomorrow π
So … yesterday (Friday the 7th of September), our second day in Barcelona, was full as well. We took our time sleeping and recovering a bit, we had a great breakfast and left home at about 12:30. We walked a lot on Passeig Gracia where we could see a lot of interesting houses, designed by famous catalan architects like Antoni Gaudi and Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
Then we reached Plaza Catalunya and we took the street taking us to the statue of Christofor Columb. This was very interesting as there are a lot of “shops” in the street selling from stamps and postcards to parrots and other strange things π there are also a lot of statue-persons acting amazing and scaring people from the street. We took a very interesting stop in one of the most-famous markets from Barcelona – Mercat Boqueria – where we saw a lot of strange fruits and even more strange fish.
After that we went in the well-known Mare-Magnum shop build “on water”. At first I believed it was some kind of peninsula, but actually it’s entirely man-made, even if it looks like being “natural” π
In the end of our walking trip we went in the “gothic” region of the city where we could find a lot of old buildings, churches and a very nice and huge cathedral. There are also some remaining of a roman establishment, with partial columns and towers very well preserved.
We finally arrived at home, took a shower and changed quickly in order to reach a great dinner with some BEST-ies that we haven’t seen in a long time. I will mention them in the order they came into my mind π Dani, Jesus, Josefin, David & Cami and of course our hosts Anna & Irene π After a great dinner at Restaurant Balthazar we went for some drinks in a nice pub, with an intimate atmosphere, called Bambu Bar.
I believe it’s enough for one day, therefore I will kiss you good night now from Barcelona;-)
